Finding Overseas Buyers - Is it Easier Now ?
by maurice pye - Friday, 7 December 2007, 04:57 AM
Anyone in the world
By Amit Kumar Chatterjee Perhaps the most daunting challenge any budding exporter faces is to find buyers for his/her products. Selling in international market has never been simple - with diverse language, geographical distance, cultural difference and lack of market knowledge posing real challenge to any manufacturer/ exporter. However, given right homework and planning, selling in overseas market today is easier, simpler and less expensive than it was a decade ago. There are many silver linings in the forms of positive Govt Policy, favourable international climate, less tariff and non-tariff barriers and above all easy and inexpensive access to an incredibly powerful and all-encompassing medium like Internet. Never before in the history of human civilization so many people from so vastly different places and societies freely interacted with each other as we witness today in Internet. So, how do today's exporters take advantage of this favourable business climate and become successful ? The answer lies in thoughtful planning, effective implementation and perseverance. In fact, large number of exporters have used these advantages successfully as reflected in unprecedented export growth witnessed over last 10 years. How To Find Buyers To put it simply, there are only two ways you can find buyers of your products - either you find the buyer or buyer finds you. Your sales strategy must take into account both the factors and plan for effective use of both sources. Some of the ways to locate buyers are : Searching directories, trade literature etc. Using buyer-seller meets organized by trade associations Conducting Market Research Employing Commercial Agent/ Representatives Subscribing to information services etc. Some of the ways of attracting buyers are: Advertisement Promotion (e.g. direct mail) Trade Shows Web-sites Search Engine Marketing etc. How Important is the Internet in your Marketing Strategy ? 10 years ago - buying agents and trade shows were the two most popular avenues for selling in international markets. Participation in overseas trade shows was, and still is, prohibitively expensive for most small and medium exporters. Internet has not only made available new avenues for sellers, it has also drastically changed distribution pattern. Today, conventional distribution channel of seller to large importer to distributor to local stockiest to retailer is severely disrupted as small retailers from USA and Europe regularly visit foreign web-sites and order directly. This is a win-win situation as both buyer and seller stand to gain substantially by transacting directly without middlemen. It does add to business risks but profit margins also become very impressive by going direct. In coming years, we shall see more and more buyers coming through the Internet route. To be successful - you should be able to make best use of this opportunity that was not available to your predecessors even 10 years back. Our Teens and Drunk Driving - What Can We do to Stop It?
by maurice pye - Thursday, 6 December 2007, 05:03 AM
Anyone in the world
By Andy Maingam Drink driving is responsible for a large number of deaths, injuries and accidents every year all over the world, and the problem doesnt seem to be getting any better either. When consumed, alcohol seems to take away any healthy fears or responsibilities that the person would probably have in their sober state. This problem needs to be nipped in the bud otherwise we're going to see an even bigger increase in the crisis with our teens and drunk driving related deaths, accidents and injuries. Every parent does the best they can for their kids, but the bottom line is that once they get to those teenage years, many are more likely to go thorough a period where they are influenced by their peers rather than their parents. Unfortunately, many students are exposed to drinking at high school. There are some youngsters that seem to be constantly drinking and driving and never have an incident, whereas others have just one weak moment that ends in a driving catastrophe. I wish it wasn't the case, but teens and drunk driving related incidents are on the increase. Drinking alcohol and driving a vehicle is a potentially deadly cocktail of events at any age, but statistically, teens and drunk driving is even worse. Whether drunk or sober, when a young driver gets behind the wheel of a car, many of them feel the need to make an impression on their passengers by driving erratically and at high speeds. We all know that 'speed' kills, but speeding cars plus intoxicated drivers is just asking for trouble. Teens and drunk driving offences are not just something the bad kids do either, as even the smartest, the most reserved, and the most unlikely of them all, can and do fall victim to peer pressure on occasions. Another problems with teens (and I can remember this too!), is that they think they are indestructible and nothing bad could ever possibly happen to them. Even with educational programs and available statistics, most still think these are things that only happen to 'other people'. Remember, it's not always drunk drivers that become the killed or injured parties. Many innocent passenger, motorists, and bystanders can get caught up in accidents caused by a drunk driver too. So what's the answer? I guess, education, education, and more education on the perils of teens and drunk driving related incidences. But I found a solution with my kids that seems to have worked wonders in installing a little sense and understanding into their growing minds. I made it an issue, a debate to be discussed, as opposed to a lecture on the dangers. It was also an education for me as a parent to realise that open discussion as opposed to laying down the laws was an effective way to communicate with adolescents and young adults. By asking the boys for their feelings on the subject and also letting them know how worried their mother and I were about this growing problem, had us all sitting down and chatting for ages. We didn't speak at them, we discussed with them, and there is a big difference. What's more, we listened to what they had to say without interruption and I think that by the end of our conversation we had planted a seed of sensibility into their minds regarding teens and drunk driving. Only time will tell, but we've found that by treating the kids as young adults instead of potential scoundrels has given both sides a little more mutual respect and that means they are more susceptive and less rebellious towards our ideals. Orlando Wedding Minister - Central Florida and Beyond

By Paul Davis Weddings are a family affair that you want to give an extra bit of special tender love and care to. That being said, when you select a wedding minister to officiate the ceremony, you want someone who is sensitive to people. Nowadays people who have no ministerial training are officiating weddings. A notary may have a degree of legality, but certainly no spirituality or platform presence. As a worldwide professional speaker who has for over 15 years been speaking across the globe, I have heard and seen a lot. I can't tell you often I hear sad stories of special days gone awry when an unprofessional person officiated a ceremony. Considering the thousands of dollars, sometimes tens of thousands, spent for the perfect dream wedding; you would think the family would be diligent to hire a wedding minister to bring it all together and officiate their daughter's marriage. To my surprise this is often where people pinch pennies the most and reap a lifetime full of disappointment. You can't repeat a wedding ceremony. It is very hurtful to watch your wedding on video and see in performed improperly and without heart. A rigid and frigid ceremony isn't what you want when your daughter gets married. Nevertheless when families don't attend church and have no access to a minister, it can be tough to figure out how to secure an officiant you can trust. Sadly Pastors often seem bound to their buildings and rarely stray away to officiate a ceremony outdoors or in a more elaborate setting. As a native Floridian, I truly love my state and know some amazing places I myself enjoy visiting. It's a pity more Pastors don't perform their own congregation member's ceremonies outdoors in some of these exciting venues. I guess when time is limited and needs countless, there is only so much a Pastor can do. As for me however I prefer to be extraordinary rather than ordinary. The moments that we most remember and reminisce about throughout our lives are those where we personally indulged and did something different. Live your dreams and beware of the enemy called average. Useful Information For Working Professionals Thinking About A Law Degree
by maurice pye - Tuesday, 4 December 2007, 06:56 AM
Anyone in the world
By Elizabeth Saas Working Professionals Thinking About A Law Degree Should Start Saving ASAP If you're a working professional just beginning to contemplate getting a law degree, you may not be aware that law students are not allowed to work while attending law school. Of course, if a degree in law is what is best for you, you cannot let your inability to work stand between you and your coveted Juris Doctorate. What you can and should do is develop a saving strategy while you are still a working professional that will enable you to attend law school and uphold your obligation to not hold outside employment while you do so. Working Professionals Thinking About A Law Degree Should Prepare For A Seismic Shift in Lifestyle Once you have your savings plan in place and your application process underway, you should prepare yourself for the extremely different environment of law school. Some of the skills you've developed as a working professional will still apply, of course. If you are blessed with great time management skills, they will be a great boon to you in the demanding years of law school, where you can expect to be overwhelmed with more work than you can hope to get done. If you have not been blessed with such skills, now is the time to start cultivating them -- before you hit the law school campus. You might also want to reach out to the law schools you're interested in applying to and see if you can meet with or at least contact students who have already made the transition from being a working professional to being a law school student. Doing what you can before you enter law school to prepare yourself for the extremely different culture will help you immensely once you enter your law program. Working Professionals Thinking About A Law Degree Should Think About How They'll Use It Maybe you're a paralegal and you're considering undertaking a law degree as a logical next step in your career path. If this is the type of situation you are in as a working professional, then you probably already have plans for what you'll do with your law degree, and are in the happy situation of having many transferable skills from your professional life that you can bring into your new life as a law school student. But what if you are a working professional who is contemplating applying to and attending law school and you are in a field totally unrelated to the practice of law? While second and third careers are becoming more and more common and you should not give up on your desire to be a lawyer even if law is unrelated to your current profession, you should devote some time before law school to thinking about what you will do with your law degree once you get it. Weight Loss - What You Should Know Before Starting
by maurice pye - Monday, 3 December 2007, 07:56 AM
Anyone in the world
By Elias Valentino You finally decide to lose those excess pounds of body fat. You open your favorite search engine and start looking for the "best weight loss program" or some "magic" pill that will make things much easier for you. You find tons of ads that offer you fast and effortless weight loss in few weeks or even days, and you think, "Wow, thats exactly what I am looking for." Unfortunately, the chances of finding something that really works are minimal. Why? Because 99% of the weight loss systems or drugs you will find are either potentially dangerous for your health or pure marketing hype. Everybody likes to hear that losing weight is fast and easy, and nobody wants to hear it is a gradual process that requires some effort and discipline. So the self-claimed weight loss "experts" are giving to you exactly what you are looking for - a fast and easy solution for your problem. Unfortunately the easy way is not the way that will lead you to healthy and long-term results. If you want to learn how to detect the hype and the gimmicks you have to understand the basics of weight loss first. So lets start! Weight loss vs. fat loss First of all, lets consider the differences between both things: There are many ways to lose weight -losing water weight, losing muscle and bone weight, and losing body fat. In fact, it is very easy to lose "weight." Just start exercising and reduce your water intake and you will lose several pounds in the first few days. When exercising, your body loses a lot of water and because you have stopped drinking liquids, you easily become dehydrated and you will weigh several pounds less. But is this is a long-term and healthy weight loss? Of course not. You will gain back the weight as soon as you restore your normal water intake. Here is another example: When you go on a diet and cut your calorie intake too much, your body detects the severe calorie deficit and slows down your metabolism. As a result, you stop losing fat (your reserve fuel), and start getting the energy you need from the muscle tissue. The result is decreased body weight, but unfortunately you have lost muscle instead of losing body fat. As you see, to achieve long-term, natural weight loss you need to burn as much fat as possible with the minimum lean body mass loss. How exactly fat is burned? If you are a healthy person, to successfully lose fat you only need to burn more calories than you eat (or drink) while maintaining your metabolism fast. Isnt it simple? In order to achieve this, your calories must come from the proper food sources, such as lean protein (chicken breast, egg whites, seafood, extra-lean red meat), complex carbs (oatmeal, brown rice, whole grains, vegetables, etc.) and "good" fats (olive oil, flaxseeds, fatty fish and cod liver oil). You should also add some kind of cardio exercise to your program, such as walking, jogging or cycling. Keep in mind that cardio is considered the best way to directly burn the fat. Lets look at an example: If you burn 2500 kCal and eat about 2000 kCal every day, that is a deficit of 500 kCal. There are 3500 kCal in 1 pound of fat. This means you will be burning 1 pound per week of pure body fat. Surprised? Yes, only 1 pound per week. I know "10 pounds in two days!" sounds much better, but that is far from realistic goal. Keep in mind that if you cut your calorie intake too much, you will slow down your metabolism, and this is not desirable if your goal is fat loss. This means that "Eat 500 kCal Burn 2500 kCal Lose 4 pounds per week" wont work for you. Its definitely possible to burn fat at faster rates (with proper nutrition and exercise program), even without supplements, but keep in mind that the maximum rate that is considered healthy is 2 pounds per week (if you are extremely overweight, up to 3 pounds per week is fine). Achieving healthy long-term weight loss faster is practically impossible. If you find products or nutrition plans that promise fast weight loss, they probably base their claims on dehydration. You can lose water weight really fast but this is not a real fat loss and can lead to serious health conditions. Conclusion You dont need a pill to lose weight. You dont need to starve yourself, to restrict the intake of any macronutrient, or to buy any "miracle" product. You just need to consume fewer calories than you burn, and those should come from good natural food sources. The best way to increase the amount of calories you burn and to create such calorie deficit is to exercise. Mild calorie restriction plus 30 to 40 minutes of intensive cardio exercise every day is the "magic formula" you are looking for and that will make you lose fat like never before. Money - The Paradox Of Money
by maurice pye - Tuesday, 27 November 2007, 08:48 AM
Anyone in the world
By CD Mohatta Money is probably the most commonly word used around the world. Money, without which lot many things cannot be done. If one has no money, one will have trouble even feeding oneself, leave aside shelter etc. What should be our attitude towards money? How much money should we accumulate and how much should we give away. How many morals and principals can be broken to get more money? And why should we earn more money than absolutely essential? There are many questions about money that come in to mind. Because since ages its money and power that has motivated human beings. For few of us power matters more than money. And paradoxically money always brings power with it. But power may or may not bring in money. For example if you are the most important person of your country but highly principled, you will have total power but very little money. On the other hand some corrupt dictators have accumulated money beyond any imagination. For few of us there are other pursuits than money and power. A good scientist gets more excitement with his inventions than any amount of money or power. For each of us there is a different motivator. Money seems to be one of the most common motivator. Cutting costs, raising prices and making more profits, this is the mantra of most of the industries and enterprises. Stock market has attracted people since long only because of the probability of making quick money. Why should lotteries become popular? Should not we depend upon our hard earned money? But lottery tickets are bought around the world. Buyers hope that they may get lucky and earn more money than they could otherwise on a single day. Gambling of all types is again driven by money as the only factor. We can list as many activities as we wish that are driven by attraction for money. Does money and more money and much more money than others give more peace of mind? Does it give more happiness or more contented life? The answer is not yes in most of the cases. Rather more money brings in more problems. Where to invest? Which bank to choose? What about those who are always requesting for donations and loans? How to keep them away? And what to do with money after one has met all the needs? Buy a still bigger mansion or holiday all the year or begin collecting antiques? Money. If you have less, you want more and if you have more you don't know what to do? That is the paradox of money. Creating a Marketing Plan for Your Website
by maurice pye - Monday, 26 November 2007, 09:09 AM
Anyone in the world
By Bobette Kyle Have you created a marketing plan for your Website? If not, it is time to think about developing one. An Internet marketing plan helps you make the right day-to-day and long term decisions. Without a marketing plan, it is more likely your Website will be a drain on finances rather than a business builder. Creating a marketing plan need not be scary or difficult. It does not require a marketing degree or a lot of experience. You do, however, need to put some quality time into writing your plan. There are different ways to write a marketing plan, one of which is to create a marketing plan outline (or single summary page) through a five step process. 5 Steps to Creating a Marketing Plan Those five steps are: 1. Gather and Analyze Information 2. Verbalize Your Main Challenge(s) 3. Develop Your Website Objective(s) 4. Create Strategies 5. Choose Marketing Programs As you create your marketing plan, fill in the knowledge you gained while developing the five steps. Step 1: Gather and analyze information. You will need information about your company, competitors, customers, and other industry players to reference while creating the plan. This includes all you can find about how the Internet is currently being integrated in your industry with respect to products, promotions, pricing structures, and distribution channels. From this information, you can complete industry and SWOT analyses as well as identify your target customers. Step 2: Verbalize your main challenge(s). Write down the main Internet related challenges you want to overcome as a result of your plan. Referring to these main challenges will help keep you focused while creating your marketing plan. You may even want to write your challenges down in question form - "How do we _____________?". When your marketing plan is completed, it will answer the question "How do I address these challenges?" Step 3: Develop your Website objective(s). The objective addresses the "big picture". Your objective answers the question "How will I overcome my main marketing challenge(s)?" in broad, general terms. If your companys main site-related challenge is figuring out how to use your Website to help build client business, for example, an objective for your Website marketing plan could be "To enhance online client service as well as build site awareness and interest with clients." Step 4: Create strategies for the marketing plan. Strategies support your objective, defining the general approaches you will take to meet your objective. For example, strategies to support the objective outlined in Step 3 could include 1) improve online communication, information, and education, 2) build awareness of and interest in your company on the Internet, and 3) communicate the Websites existence and advantages to existing clients. Step 5: Choose marketing programs (tactics). Marketing programs are where the action takes place - these are the things you will do to bring your strategies to life. Marketing programs to support strategy 2 in the above example (improve online communication, information, and education) could include 1) sharing experience and observations in your industry through participation in discussion boards, 2) offering an email newsletter, and 3) listing/submitting your site to targeted search engines and directories. The Write Up Once you have created a marketing plan summary by working through the five steps, there are numerous ways to create an expanded write up. If you are a company employee, there may be existing format and content you must follow. You can find some write up suggestions in "What to Include in Your Marketing Plan Write Up" at http://www.websitemarketingplan.com/Arts/WritePlan.htm. After the initial plan is created, you should treat it as a work in progress. Tweak and adjust as needed in response to changing conditions. Many companies update marketing and business plans annually when developing budgets for the coming year. Whether you are a one-person shop or part of a good-sized company, having a Website marketing plan can help your business prosper on the Web. The Lemon Law in California - What are the Consumer Benefits?
by maurice pye - Sunday, 25 November 2007, 12:05 PM
Anyone in the world
By Earl Powers Various states across US have different lemon laws. Lemon law California differs from those in other states. It is important to know the fine intricacies of Lemon law California. Lemon law California is also known as Motor Vehicle Warranty Rights Act. The California lemon law states that any vehicle purchase is a major consumer purchase. If such a vehicle turns out to be defective or if is found to cause serious injuries or even hardships to the consumer due to its defects, then a consumer is entitled to be made aware of his rights. Under the consumer rights if the defects or hardships are proved in the Federal court of law and if the vehicle is under warranty period, then a consumer can call for a lemon law suit. Lemon law California and Federal warranty law protect consumers from being stuck with 'Lemon' automobiles, computer lemons and other defective consumer products. According to Lemon Law in California, if any car or computer is turns out to be a Lemon, then a consumer may be entitled to your money back, a replacement or a cash settlement. According the Lemon law California, the owner of a motor vehicle or the owner's designated agent may make a complaint concerning a defect in a motor vehicle that is covered by a manufacturer's, converter's, or distributor's warranty agreement applicable to the vehicle. Any complaint regarding a lemon vehicle must be made in writing to the applicable dealer, manufacturer, converter, or distributor. The written complaint about a Lemon must specify each defect in the vehicle that is covered by the warranty. The owner may also invoke the board's jurisdiction by sending a copy of the complaint to the board. Any case regarding the lemon vehicle, if not resolved by owner and dealer or manufacture privately is entitled for a hearing. Before filing a suit for any damaged vehicle for lemon law California certain points must be ensured for proper proceedings in a federal court of law. All copies of documentation concerning the car and all the repair records should be kept in proper order. A track of details such as when was the vehicle serviced, where the vehicle was purchased from, from whom the vehicle was purchased etc. Technical service bulletins concerning the car should be called for. The VIN or Vehicle Identification Number for a lemon vehicle should be noted specifically. This VIN number is a series of 17 numbers and letters that are unique to each vehicle. It is located on a metal plate at the lower corner of the front windshield on the driver's side. There are various attorneys who specialize in lemon law California such attorneys should be specifically consulted for filing any lemon law suit. A vehicle report history should also be kept in order for any reference before filing the suit for lemon law California. A vehicle report history can be easily obtained from the internet. Various agencies provide free vehicle history report in California. A vehicle history report can be generated by providing the VIN to any of the websites pertaining to vehicles in California. The vehicle history report easily reveals any problems that might not be visible to untrained eye. This could be major damage from collision, fire, hail or water damage, odometer rollback or tampering, lemon or junk status, and much more. Lemon law California states all the provisions to prevent a consumer from being stuck with a lemon. The best way to get rid of lemon car is to act and file a suit as soon as possible. What Do You Do When Your Feet Catch Fire?
by maurice pye - Saturday, 24 November 2007, 02:13 PM
Anyone in the world
By John Young Somebody had applied a blowtorch to his toes. Trying to ignore the searing pain in his right foot propped against the accelerator, Pete gritted his teeth and focused on the heavy rush hour traffic. The tingling in his toes had begun about a year ago, and he had had no idea what was causing it. He kept flexing his toes, thinking that it was a just a circulation problem. But it kept worsening. Finally, he mentioned it to one of his coworkers. Randy shook his head. "I have no idea, but it sounds like youve got a circulation problem. You'd better get it looked into before you develop something really bad ... like gangrene, or something." With those "comforting" words ringing in his ears, Pete finally went to the doctor who diagnosed it as "peripheral neuropathy", and checked his blood sugar levels. Dr. Hammond explained that peripheral neuropathy was usually caused by nerve deterioration in the extremities, and began with a tingling sensation in the toes or fingers. The "wiring" in his body had become damaged, and was now transmitting sensations that weren't there. "You're not diabetic, but you're glucose intolerant, and the higher than normal levels in your blood evidently have damaged your nerves." Dr Hammond prescribed Neurontin, a drug originally developed to control seizures, but had been discovered to work as a "pain manager" in the condition of Peripheral Neuropathy. "It's not a cure," he said. "We have no idea how it works. But it'll reduce the pain and keep you functional" Pete didn't like the words "it'll keep you functional." The phrase definitely had an ominous ring to it. He took Neurontin faithfully according to prescription, and for awhile it worked, but it wasn't too long before he began to see what Dr. Hammond was alluding too. The painful sensations increased, and it seemed like it was getting more difficult for the drug to handle them. Then, one day, he forgot to take his medicine, and he vowed he would never do it again. Without the pain manager, the pain level ramped up several orders of magnitude, and Pete discovered that the full extent of his condition had been masked by the drug. Neuropathy had taken over half of his foot. Sledgehammers slammed against his feet. Hot blowtorches seared his toes. Hot rocks were jammedinside the soles of his feet. Once ... worst of all ... a white hot band saw tried to cut his foot half off. Now he knew he was now entirely dependent on the Neurontin. Without it, he couldn't endure the pain... And he almost couldn't walk at all. There's damage out there somewhere So what do we mean by the term "peripheral neuropathy"? The nervous system of the human body is broadly divided into the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral Nervous System(PNS). The former consists of the brain and spinal chord, whereas the latter is divided into the Somatic and Autonomic Nervous Systems. Peripheral neuropathy affects the PNS, and can result in nerve damage to the Somatic or Autonomic Systems. Translated, neuropathy can develop not only in the feet or hands, but in the nerves regulating the lungs, heart, digestive and sexual organs. In other words, it can develop anywhere and have very serious and far reaching consequences to the body. It can take the form of: --polyneuropathy (peripheral nerves throughout the body) --autonomic neuropathy (the cardiovascular system, digestive tract, bladder, or genitals) The painful sensations of polyneuropathy, burning, itching, "electric shock", or hammering, may develop in the feet and legs either gradually or suddenly. You may or may not get a warning before they appear. Three strikes and you're out Today, there are three classes of medication on the market that can treat the pain resulting from neuropathic nerve damage: -- tricyclic antidepressants such as amiriptyline (Elavil) -- anticonvulsants such as gabapentine(Neurontin) and pregabilin (Lyrica) --serotonin and norepenephrin reuptake inhibitors such as duloxeten (Cymbalta) Blocking uptake of neurotransmitters or blocking pathways in the spinal chord prevent pain signals from reaching the brain. Sodium and calcium channels may also be blocked to keep the brain from registering pain from "cross talking" neurons. None of the medicines can be thought of as a "cure", and if the causes of neuropathy are not addressed, it will continue to progress. That's why the "strange tingling" in Pete's toes advanced to the sensation of somebody cutting off his foot with a hot band saw. So, if medical science has thrown three balls at us and none of them are a "cure", is that it? Are we stuck with merely "managing the pain" and hoping we don't end up down the line with a foot amputation? Eight is more than enough Pete's condition was probably caused by borderline diabetes, and is known as Diabetic Neuropathy. However, Peripheral Neuropathy has a variety of causes (For a more in-depth explanation, see the www.neuropathy.org website). These are: -- Immune Related, the most prominent of which is the Guillane-Barre syndrome in which the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system. Weakness in the legs is usually a preliminary sign of this condition. -- Diabetic, caused by excessive blood sugar. This can take the forms of either peripheral (damage to the extremities) or autonomic (damage to the central nervous system). --Infectious, caused by HIV, Hepatitus or Lyme disease. -- Drug and Nutrition Related. Excessive alcohol consumption can result in a deficiency in thiamine (Vitamin B1) that is essential to the health of the peripheral nervous system. --Hereditary. Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease is an example of hereditary neuropathy. Nerves in the legs are affected first, followed by those in the feet and ultimately to the hands and arms. --Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Neuropathy resulting from repetitive damage. --Critical Illness Neuropathy can be brought on by attempts to combat cancer, such as chemotherapy. --Idiopathic Neuropathy. A word for saying that nobody knows what causes it. And nobody, it seems, knows how to cure it. Two essentials your nerves desperately need. But is there, in fact, no hope? Neuropathy brought about by excessive alcohol consumption is thought to be caused by the reduction of Thiamine, or Vitamin B1, in the body. Thiamine has long been known to be vital to the healthy functioning of nerves and was linked to the disease Beriberi in 1937. It has long been known that nerves respond to the presence, or absence of Vitamin B1, but only recently, Neuropathy has been shown to also be made worse by the absence of B12 which supports nerve cell sheathing and promotes and regenerates nerve cells. Unfortunately, both vitamin B1 and B12 are water soluble complexes that are not retained long in the body. Thiamine is flushed out of the body in 4 - 5 hours, and less than 1/2 of 1% of Vitamin B12 consumed orally is retained. It is almost impossible to get enough of this Vitamin, and nerve cells are not protected well without it. So, is there a possibility that with the proper intake of Vitamin B1 and B12, that damaged nerves can be healed? There may be gain that kills the pain. Pete was beginning to panic. The Neurontin dosage levels weren't cutting it. His doctor had told him to regulate his carbohydrate intake, but he was on the road, commuting 2 1/2 hours every day, and he had to hit the ground running when he reached his office. Controlling his carbs? He might as well try to control the traffic he had to fight his way through every day to get to work. And the neuropathy was rapidly taking over his feet. The numbness he felt when he took his medicine, and the pure pain that hit him when he missed a dosage, were enough to convince him of that. Where was this headed? And, more importantly... Was there any way to stop it? Was there any actual cure -- out there? Somewhere? From his Internet research, Pete learned that there was indeed some ongoing medical research into the role Vitamin B1 played in actually reversing neuropathy, but little was known. But then he discovered something. Medical research was focused on water soluble Vitamin B1 and B12, vitamins that didnt remain long enough in the body to do much good. If somehow they could be retained by the body longer Hang around and something might happen. Pete discovered there was a possibility that vitamin B1 and B12 could be retained in the body long enough to be therapeutic for nerve damage. It just had to be in an oil soluble form, rather than water soluble. The term "like dissolves like" has been a maxim of Chemists since the dawn of Chemistry. It has long been known that chemicals can be divided into two classes: polar and non polar. The former are generally water soluble, and the latter are oil soluble. Oil soluble materials are taken up by the body and retained longer than the polar, water soluble, chemicals. A new form of vitamin B1, known as Benfotiamine, has been discovered to be retained in the body much longer than Thiamine, and Methalcobalamine, known as Methyl B12, is also retained longer and is effective for nerve repair. Packaged together they may provide a real alternative for peripheral neuropathy sufferers, particularly those with Neuropathy symptoms in their hands and feet. Something more Pete needed something more than pain management. He needed something that would actually therapeutically work to "heal" his condition, but he couldn't find it in conventional medicine. All available drugs did little more than to block or "manage" the pain, and as time went by and Pete's condition worsened, they were having steadily more difficulty doing that. Vitamin therapies exist which offered promise...but Pete was reluctant to try them. He was locked into the notion that any "alternative" solution to a medical problem was somewhere in that hazy world of medical quackery... And he didnt fully realize that alternate therapies were relegated to quackery by an industry dependent on pharmaceutical companies whose business economy depends on increasing the publics drug dependence....not true therapy. But alternate solutions do work, and without the side effects conventional pharmaceuticals usually produce. Vitamin therapies, based on oil soluble B complexes, are known to have a powerful role in healing damaged nerve cells without side effects, are based on sound medical principles and provide bright hope for healing peripheral neuropathy.
